Dear Members of Our Campus Community,

As I announced in my campus memo of March 5, Jules Zimmer Dean of our Gevirtz Graduate School of Education Jeffrey Milem has decided to retire, effective June 30, after nine years of outstanding leadership.

Following consultation with our Executive Vice Chancellor, Academic Senate, faculty, administrative and staff colleagues, and graduate students, I am pleased to announce the formation of the search advisory committee for our next Dean of The Gevirtz School. Professor Richard Mayer has graciously agreed to chair this important committee, and Professors Jin Sook Lee, Education, and Shane Jimerson, Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology, have agreed to serve as vice chairs. The committee membership is listed below.

I am grateful to the chair and vice chairs, and to all of our search advisory committee members for their willingness to devote their valuable time and wisdom to help our campus with this important search.

I would like to take this opportunity again to thank Dean Milem for his leadership of The Gevirtz School and his many extraordinary contributions to our university.

Sincerely,

Henry T. Yang
Chancellor
