Dear Members of Our Campus Community,
Like many institutions across the country, our university is navigating evolving policy changes at the federal level that have left many feeling confused and concerned. We are working together with the UC Office of the President and our sister campuses to monitor and evaluate how these executive orders and communications impact education, research, and most importantly, the well-being of our community members.
I want to take this opportunity to reaffirm our deep care and concern for every member of our campus community. It is the people of UC Santa Barbara who make our campus so special. Reinforcing last week’s message from UC President Michael Drake, we stand firmly committed to supporting our community members, and to upholding our core values as a public research university.
During this time of uncertainty, we understand the importance of keeping our campus community informed. To that end, the UC Office of the President has launched a Federal Updates website. This site offers information on the system’s approach to executive orders on a range of topics, including research, immigration, and more. UC will continue to share updates and resources on the site as they become available.
Please know that we will remain engaged, and will continue to work with our elected representatives on policies that support our students, scholars, and colleagues. Together, we will maintain the mission of teaching, research, service, and stewardship that defines us.
Sincerely,
Henry T. Yang
Chancellor
