March 13, 2023

Dear Members of Our Campus Community,

I am writing to inform you that following consultation with our student leadership, Academic Senate Chair, Executive Vice Chancellor, Interim Dean of Undergraduate Education, Student Affairs, Administrative Services, and other campus leadership, and given predictions of dangerous storm conditions on Tuesday, and the cancellation of classes at many local schools, all instructors should either cancel and reschedule Tuesday, March 14, classes or teach them over Zoom. Please inform students as soon as possible. Students with additional questions should contact their instructors directly for more information.

Information on this storm, including evacuation warnings, evacuation orders, and flood watch, can be found at https://www.countyofsb.org/3788/March-2023-Winter-Storm.

While the campus remains open and operational, we encourage supervisors to exercise maximum flexibility in allowing our staff colleagues who are able to work remotely for tomorrow, Tuesday, March 14.

Campus events scheduled for March 14 are continuing as planned, unless you are otherwise notified by event organizers.

As always, thank you for your flexibility as we work together to prioritize the well-being of our campus community. We will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate any necessary updates with you. Please be safe and take good care during this challenging weather.

Sincerely,

Henry T. Yang
Chancellor
