Dear Members of Our Campus Community,

Since 1923, United Way of Santa Barbara County has been striving to make a difference in this community, and working hard to ensure that our contributions help our local friends and neighbors in need.

Running the oldest United Way campaign in Santa Barbara County, UC Santa Barbara has been a proud long-time partner in raising resources and mobilizing volunteers to serve those most in need. This year, UC Santa Barbara will hold our annual United Way Campaign, “United for Our Community,” January 18 through March 3, 2023. In line with our campaign theme, we are standing together to connect with our community, recognize individual needs, and support and uplift those around us. We will come together with the return of our annual Bean Bag Tournament, and will finish our campaign with the sweet gift of candy grams. For more information about our UC Santa Barbara United Way Campaign, please visit www.dia.ucsb.edu/unitedway.

For the last century, United Way has been a key leader in local efforts to empower children, families, and communities through its own unique collaborative programs and initiatives, partnership convening efforts, volunteer development, and funding. Throughout its three focus areas, Academic Achievement, Financial Empowerment, and Crisis Response and Recovery, the organization continues to make an impact on thousands of individuals each year. Programs like United Way’s Fun in the Sun summer learning program, the United Learning Center tutoring program, and the Emergency Rental Assistance Program provide a comprehensive spectrum of resources and tools to help children and families build stronger foundations for future success. To learn more about United Way’s resources and programs, please visit www.unitedwaysb.org.

As we join United Way in celebrating its 100th year of service, we are all inspired by our faculty, staff, students, and alumni who support the communities around us in so many ways. I encourage all of us to learn more about United Way of Santa Barbara County, and to invest in our community with a gift of service or financial support. No matter how you give, your gift makes a difference! And your gift is deeply appreciated!

Sincerely,

Henry T. Yang
