TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY

Dear Colleagues:

As I announced in my campus memo of January 29, Professor Jane Close Conoley, Dean of our Gevirtz Graduate School of Education since 2006, has accepted the invitation to become the next president of California State University, Long Beach, effective August 1, 2014. Our campus community and I congratulate Dr. Conoley, with great pride in her appointment to this important leadership position for higher education in California.

Following consultation with our Academic Senate, administrative colleagues, and other members of our campus community, I am pleased to announce the formation of the search advisory committee for our next GGSE Dean. Professor Richard Mayer has graciously agreed to chair this important committee, and Professors Betsy Brenner and Merith Cosden have graciously agreed to serve as the vice chairs. The committee membership is listed on the reverse.

I am grateful to all of our search advisory committee members for their willingness to devote their valuable time and wisdom to help our campus with this important search.

Sincerely,

Henry T. Yang
Chancellor
