TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to inform you that the University will be implementing systemwide salary increases for the 2013-14 fiscal year.

Effective July 1, 2013, faculty and other non-represented academic personnel will receive a 2 percent general salary increase, and eligible non-represented staff employees will receive a general salary increase averaging 3 percent. Details regarding the implementation of this salary increase program at UC Santa Barbara will be distributed soon.

These increases, which were part of the proposed 2013-14 budget approved by the Board of Regents this past November, are intended to acknowledge the fact that non-represented employees have received only one general salary increase in the past five years. The increases also are intended to partially offset increased retirement and benefit costs that faculty and staff have absorbed over the past few years.

The budget cuts of the last several years have created many challenges -- and sacrifices -- for faculty and staff, and I want to express our deepest thanks for your continued dedication, service, and contributions to our University.

Should you have any questions about the 2013-14 salary plan for faculty and academic personnel, please contact Cindy Doherty at x8332 or cindy.doherty@ap.ucsb.edu. Questions pertaining to staff employees should be directed to Tricia Hiemstra at x4832 or tricia.hiemstra@hr.ucsb.edu.

Sincerely,

Henry T. Yang
Chancellor
