TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY
Dear Colleagues:
After five years of dedicated service to our campus, Associate Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services Ron Cortez will be departing UC Santa Barbara at the end of June to take the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at San Francisco State University.
This is a wonderful opportunity for Ron, and we wish him the very best. We also thank him sincerely for his many contributions to our campus. He has provided dedicated leadership for his areas within Administrative Services, and for important campuswide initiatives such as sustainability; emergency planning; and our financial system, payroll implementation, and eprocurement projects. Prior to joining UCSB in 2008, he was the Deputy CEO for the County of Santa Barbara for 14 years.
I am pleased to announce that Pam Lombardo has graciously agreed to serve as our Acting Associate Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services, representing and coordinating the functions of Audit & Advisory Services, Business & Financial Services, Environmental Health & Safety, Human Resources, Police, Administrative Systems Project Management Office, and Information Systems. This position will continue to report directly to me.
Pam has served as our Director of Environmental Health & Safety and Campus Risk Manager for four years, and has a total of 16 years of campus experience, including five years as Director of Business Services and, prior to that, seven years as Director of Business & Financial Services for Housing. Please join me in thanking Pam for her willingness to help our campus by taking on this interim role.
Please also join me in extending our warmest congratulations and thanks to Ron as he and his wife, Laurie, prepare for this exciting next step in their lives.
Sincerely,
Henry T. Yang
Chancellor
