Dear Colleagues:
In July I wrote to you with the sad news that Mary Cheadle had passed away. Mary came to this campus in 1962 with her husband, Vernon Cheadle, who served with such extraordinary distinction and tremendous impact as UC Santa Barbara’s second chancellor until 1977. Mary was a remarkable person, loved and admired by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She remained devoted to UCSB throughout her life. We miss her greatly.
We will be holding a memorial service in celebration of Mary’s life this Thursday, November 6, at Mosher Alumni House. The service will begin at 4 p.m. and will be followed by a reception. All are invited to attend. Please RSVP (“yes” only) to Public Events at 805-893-2117.
