TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY
Dear Colleagues:
In a January 8, 2008 memo, I announced that after twelve years of visionary and strong leadership, our Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Dr. Gary Cunningham, expressed his wish to retire from the directorship sometime this summer. I would like to take this opportunity to again thank Dr. Cunningham for his outstanding contributions to Gaucho athletics and especially for his inspirational mentorship of our coaches and student-athletes.
I am pleased to announce that a search advisory committee for the next Director of Intercollegiate Athletics has been formed, and that Janis Ingham, NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative, and George Thurlow, Executive Director of the UCSB Alumni Association, have graciously agreed to serve as co-chairs of the committee. The roster of the committee is listed below.
I thank all those who have been part of the consultation process in the formation of this committee. I am grateful to all our colleagues for their dedication to devote so much of their valuable time and energy to the work of this committee in support of our campus and Gaucho athletics.
