TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY
Dear Colleagues:
We are all deeply saddened by the recent tragedy in Goleta. Our hearts go out to the family members and friends of Charlotte Colton, Ze Vang Fairchild, Beverly Graham, Nicola Grant, Maleka Higgins, Dexter Shannon, and Guadalupe Swartz. They were our neighbors, and our friends.
In their honor, a community memorial gathering will take place this Sunday, February 12, at 2 p.m. UC Santa Barbara is honored and humbled to host this event in our Events Center. Elected officials, community leaders, and other dignitaries are expected to attend. I invite you to join us as well.
This will be a time for us all to come together as a community—to mourn, to grieve, and to begin the healing process. It will also be a time to express sympathy and provide support for the families and loved ones of those whose lives were lost in this terrible tragedy.
