TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY

Dear Colleagues:

I write to share with you the news that Professor Aaron Ettenberg, acting provost of the College of Letters and Science for the past four years, has informed me that he wishes to return to the Department of Psychology at the end of this summer in order to resume his distinguished research and teaching career.

I am saddened that our campus will be losing the services of such a talented administrator, but also grateful to Aaron for the outstanding leadership he has provided to the College, especially during such difficult budgetary times. Aaron has worked closely and effectively with my office and with Executive Vice Chancellor Lucas to address and implement recommendations from our faculty, administrative colleagues, and various committees regarding the structure and function of the College.

In this interim period, EVC Lucas and I will work with the deans, faculty, and staff of L&S, as well as the Academic Senate and Aaron himself, to develop and execute a transitional plan. I want to thank Aaron for his willingness to assist in these efforts. His dedicated service to UCSB has been exemplary, and should serve as an inspiration to us all. Please join me in wishing Aaron well, and in thanking him for his past and continuing contributions to our campus.

 Sincerely,

 Henry T. Yang
 Chancellor
