TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY

Dear Colleagues:

With the unanimous recommendation from the faculty of the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management and in consultation with EVC Nagel, I am pleased to announce that Acting Dean Dennis Aigner of the Bren School has agreed to serve as Dean through June 30, 2003. We are extremely grateful to Dennis for his willingness to help our campus fulfill its goal of a world-class graduate school that offers unique multidisciplinary programs that use the faculty of the entire University of California system. Previous to his service for UCSB, Dennis was Dean of the Graduate School of Management at UC Irvine for nine years.

Dennis said, “The Bren School is a unique resource to the UC System.  I am pleased to help out and I look forward to continuing to build the School over the next two years.”

The search for a Dean for the Bren School will continue, with the goal to appoint no later than July 2003.

Sincerely,

Henry T. Yang
