TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY

Dear Colleagues:

In a recent campus letter, I informed you that David Sheldon, Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services, would be retiring at the end of this month. While the search for a new Vice Chancellor goes on, I am pleased to announce that Everett Kirkelie has graciously accepted the appointment as Acting Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services, effective April 1, 2001.

Over the past thirty years, Everett has contributed to UCSB’s success in so many ways. He first joined UCSB as Assistant Dean of Students. He went on to become Assistant Vice Chancellor of Auxiliary Services, and later served as Acting Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs for approximately two years just before Dr. Michael Young’s appointment. Everett then served as Associate Vice Chancellor of Housing and Auxiliary Services and Special Assistant to the Chancellor. He has held his current position as Associate Vice Chancellor of Administrative and Auxiliary Services for the past decade. Everett received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Oregon State University.

I am delighted that Everett is willing to assume the responsibilities of this important acting position, and I appreciate his past and continuing service and leadership here at UCSB.

Sincerely,

Henry T. Yang
Chancellor
