Dear Members of the UC Santa Barbara Community,
This past weekend, campus officials were informed of a report concerning an antisemitic symbol drawn in an off-campus private Isla Vista residence where several Jewish students live. This disturbing incident has been reported to local law enforcement for investigation. It also has been referred to the UC Santa Barbara Title IX Compliance & Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Office for review.
UC Santa Barbara condemns and stands united against antisemitism and any form of discrimination, intimidation, or harassment, both on our campus and beyond. Such acts are against our values and will not be tolerated. Incidents will be reported, reviewed, and responded to, consistent with University policies and federal law. Appropriate action will be taken through our established conduct codes and policies to hold responsible individuals accountable.
We remain fully committed to maintaining and enhancing a safe, supportive, and respectful campus environment where all individuals can live, learn, work, and thrive. Preventing discrimination is a responsibility we all share, and enhancing our university’s culture of inclusion, civility, safety, respect, and accountability is an ongoing commitment of our entire community.
