TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY

Dear Colleagues:

Since 1923, the United Way of Santa Barbara County has been committed to making a difference in our community, and working hard to ensure that our contributions help local friends and neighbors in need.

United Way of Santa Barbara County and its partners are working to achieve community-driven 10-year goals, with a focus on the “United 2020 Goals”: Education, Financial Stability, and Health. Through outreach, volunteer work, and the financial participation of dozens of local public and private organizations, the United Way is able to provide lasting solutions to community problems.

Every year, one in three residents of Santa Barbara County seeks assistance from United Way for help with a variety of social issues. It is very possible that you know of someone in our community who has been helped by their services, and it is reassuring to know that if you or I needed help tomorrow, United Way would be there to provide it.

This year’s UCSB United Way campaign is now underway and will run through February 28, 2014. Our goal is to raise $120,000 for the United Way of Santa Barbara County.

I hope you will join me in learning more about how we can give back to our community by exploring the links on our United Way web page, attending a campus United Way presentation, or talking with your department’s United Way representative.

I am proud of UC Santa Barbara’s involvement in our local communities. Our annual United Way campaign is a special way for us to demonstrate our commitment and our compassion. Whether you choose to contribute financially or by donating time, together we can “Make a Wave of Difference” in the lives of those who need our support.

Thank you for the many ways you help our campus reach out to the communities around us.

Sincerely,

Henry T. Yang
