Search Advisory Committee for Director of Intercollegiate Athletics

Dear Colleagues:

In a memo last month, I announced that after six years of dedicated service to our campus, Mark Massari, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, will be departing UC Santa Barbara to take the Deputy Athletics Director position at Oregon State University. I would like to take this opportunity to again thank Mark for his devoted leadership and service to our campus.

I also announced that Dr. Gary Cunningham has kindly agreed to serve as our Interim Director of Athletics, effective August 1, 2014, while we conduct a national search. Gary retired in 2008 after serving 13 years as our campus’s Athletics Director.

I am pleased to announce that a search advisory committee for our next Director of Intercollegiate Athletics has been formed, and that Gene Lucas, former Executive Vice Chancellor and Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering, has graciously agreed to serve as chair of the committee. The roster of the committee is listed below.

I thank all those who have been part of the consultation process in the formation of this committee. I am grateful to all our colleagues for their dedication to devote so much of their valuable time and energy to the work of this committee in support of our campus and Gaucho athletics.
